HC Alumni Celebration - We want to hear from you!

We’re closing in on the Tenth Graduating Class for the Cook Honors College, and we think this landmark is the perfect opportunity to build connections between our alumni and the students currently creating new memories in Whitmyre Hall. While this group’s primary purpose was to announce our April event (more details are available in the events section at the bottom right of this page), we want this to be a tool that continues connecting people for the years to come.

Careers are changing, families are growing, and new opportunities are being created every day. We hope this helps you to keep in touch and perhaps promote jobs, internships, etc., with alumni and current students.

We hope you can join us in April for the Celebration! PLEASE update your information with us, even if you cannot make it, by visiting here: http://old.www.iup.edu/honors/Alumni/Update/Index.html.

To learn more about the April Alumni event and connect with your friends, classmates, and faculty of the HC, please visit us on our Facebook Group - Robert E. Cook Honors College Tenth Class Celebration.  Post pictures, comments, and anything else you think your fellow alums will appreciate.

Join us for some food and drink while you visit with your fellow alums and some of the students, faculty, and staff currently in Whitmyre.  Details will follow in the next few months, and we hope to see you October 3!

In the mean time, if you have any suggestions or feedback from an alumni perspective, feel free to leave a comment here or email Ryan Rearick.  Enjoy your summer!

Way to go Bill! We wish you the best!

Richard Auvil '07

Richard Auvil (Music, '07) is finding out first hand how that trip he took to Croatia during his undergraduate studies at the Robert E Cook Honors College has made a big impact on his graduate studies at UNCG!

In a graduate seminar on feminism and gender studies in music, he wrote a paper about how the political state of Croatia paralleled reception of the compositions of Dora Pejacevic. His grad professor found it interesting and is encouraging him to publish it!  He is also looking at presenting at a conference hosted by Dora Pejacevic!  Nice.

Good News From Jillian Orr!

Good afternoon!
I wanted to share some outrageously exciting news: I got accepted to Harvard!!!
In one year will obtain my Master's of Education through the Technology, Innovation and Education program.  Mainly, I will learn how to create educational media-- and then do it!  My focus will be on mathematics educational media and technology, and the fact that Harvard faculty member Joseph Blatt is a leader in this field is what attracted me to the progam originally.  The program also enables me to take a math class at MIT!  This is a dream come true!
I would like to thank each of you for all of your support throughout my undergraduate years and beyond!  I will definitely keep you updated on all that is to come!
Truly,
Jillian Orr   :)
